  • Went to Koomer Ridge this morning and looped back via Buck Trail. Hardly anybody in that area today which was nice.

The only bad part was that when I returned home I realized that my boots had delaminated. Not cool!!

Extremism is so easy. You've got your position, and that's it. It doesn't take much thought. And when you go far enough to the right you meet the same idiots coming around from the left.

        • Went to the Gorge this morning. Tunnel Ridge Road is still pretty icy, and I managed to fall before I made it to Grays arch. Didn’t see anyone out though so that was nice.

Grays was one of the first places in the Gorge I visited. Really pretty. Especially in winter.

I also really like Wildcat Trail in the winter especially if there is a little snow and ice.
            Aspirational...

I've been on that once. I walked the swift camp creek trail about ten years ago, which also is very nice.

From earlier this afternoon over in Martin County. He’s small, but happy to see him!

                  • I took a quick little trip to Natural Bridge State Park today and walked up to Whittleton Arch. It’s an easy walk and I had never seen it before. I parked at the Whittleton campground and from there you can also take a short little walk up the ridge to seen Henson’s arch which is pretty cool as well. This was good timing on my part because there weren’t too many people around and the temps were nice in the mid 50’s.

                        • Went back to the Gorge today. I parked at Gray’s Arch and took Pinch ‘Em Tight ridge out to Rough Trail, then walked out to Hanson’s Point. Had it to myself for about 15 minutes and then two guys came out. One had been there multiple times and the other was seeing it for the first time, so I left and walked on Rough Trail until Rush Ridge.

Rough Trail was muddy in a few places, but didn’t have as many trees blown down as I expected after the wind last Friday. My understanding is that with the upcoming changes to RRG, Hanson’s point will become an official trail.

That top photo is from Hanson’s point, and you can see three major vistas from there. For scale, on Half Moon there are some people in the photo. Can you see them?

Had lunch at Red River Rockhouse which just reopened for the season today. I don’t think I had been there in about ten years as they’re open a few days of the week plus they’re usually very busy.

All in all it was two decent jaunts out to one of the more special places in the state.
