I have to wonder a lot about this one. I wonder how much the staff really tried to hang on to him or if they felt it was best to let him go.

As I mentioned in another thread, after 20 plus years on these message boards, this is the first time I have some pretty reliable inside info. The precipitating issue with Goodwin was NIL money. He was promised a certain amount when he signed a year ago, and for whatever reason, that money never came through. That pretty much soured him on UK, but I do not know if that feeling was mutual or not. Like most of you, if not all of you, I find it very strange that as bad as our OL was last year, Goodwin could not get any PT and never seemed to be an option.

There's also been some chatter that he's lazy and didn't want to put in the work necessary to play.

I'm hoping this doesn't sour the relationship between Vince and Chris Vaughn at Aspirations. A lot of good ball players train with Chris.

If that's the case, being a Gator won't change him much.

I think that ship has sailed. Those are Brohm's kids now.

I would like to be wrong about that.

Most likely so. Think the only reason Vince was able to step in was because Satt wouldn't recruit the city of Louisville.

Well we just got commit from one of Aspiration's. and signed another one back in dec. when I saw Goodwin this year, he looked a lot heavier then when he was as a high school senior. Chris made Goodwin a 4 star, and when he wasn't there to motivate him, old habits came back. I know there is a rumor about Chris having words with the UK coaches, but no one heard what was being said. From Aspirations stand point, what will look better, putting kids in a lower ACC school down the street, or in a upper lever SEC school?

I hope I'm wrong, but with Brohm at the helm I'm not so sure UofL will be a lower ACC school any longer.

I kind of think you are correct. But remember, it does not take much to move up in that conference. FSU is on the rise and Clemson is not going away. Everyone is waiting for Miami to re-emerge, but that’s about it.

Brohm will have success at Louisville, I just don't know how much.
Clemson, N Carolina, NC State, FSU, Wake....and yeah, Miami. Don't forget Notre Dame usually plays what most would consider 'conference' games against the ACC.

They certainly have a nice looking class coming in.

As for Goodwin, I've heard all the rumors as well about broken NIL promises, angry high school coaches, weight problems...and on.

I kinda think this was a case of a kid that has upside that got over rated by.....well....just about everyone.

Truth be told, he was likely a high 3 that needed tons of work on conditioning and stance along with his footwork. We got a young bulldozer and tried to make him a dancing bear.
