  • Your Top Three: SF

Difficult list IMO, and definitely the weakest of the positions during the Calipari era

    1. Derek Anderson- played SF more than SG here at UK, and was Mr. Do It All. He was athletic, pretty decent shooter, played exceedingly hard and intelligently, and just fit in so well with our system at the time. He had the IT Factor in spades. My favorite UK player.

    2. Ron Mercer- maybe Pitino's second most talented player, a guy that was a wrecking machine on the college level. He was awesome, except that he didn't really improve any after his senior year of high school. Could have progressed to be an NBA all star

    3. Tayshaun Prince- maybe a little underappreciated as of late, he was highly versatile and a fan favorite. Great guy on and off of the court.

I have been thinking about this one for a few days. I still don't have an answer. The three you mentioned are three of the best, but the list would also be fair to have Mash, Bogans, and MKG. It's definitely the weakest of the Cal era, but maybe the strongest top seven or eight that we will discuss.

Kenny Walker played 3 and 4. When Winston Bennett was alongside he was 3. Sooooooo....Walker.
      McCarty, perhaps?
Mashburn if course if he isn't the 4.
Jack Givens technically was a forward.

      So Givens
      Walker
      Mashburn

I go back farther than most.

        Jamal Mashburn
        Pat Riley
        Derek Anderson

Givens and Mashburn have to be there. Didn't see Riley or Grevey so I will take Walker as my third.

Anderson over Givens? That's quite a surprise.

It was a very close pick. I don't like to leave any out.

                  Mashburn
                  Ron Mercer
                  Anderson

                    1. Mashburn
                    2. Anderson
                    3. Kidd-Gilchrist

Think MKG's defense puts him above Mercer.

Ron Mercer has one of the two best dunks I ever remember at UK. He caught an alley-oop tossed from High Street I think, caught it behind his head and dunked it in.

                        Mercer
                        Kidd-Gilchrist

I'd still consider Derek Anderson a shooting guard.

Really kind of difficult. In today's thought the 78 team would have been size wise a three guard offense. I would classify guys like Patterson, Hayes, Randolph, Bennett and Robey as 4s, but we've had a lot that have been combo guys....I want to think Walker led the league in scoring and rebounding, but Bowie could play inside and outside.

I thought Mash was a PF???

                              With that said:

                              1. Mercer
                              2. MKG
                              3. Prince

I already had Anderson at SG... I never really cared for Prince as a player but he was good. Do we count Hishimu Evans or Scott Padgett as a 3?
Jordan Peterson is my spirit animal...
