  • NCAA Develops New Metric, Eliminates RPI As Primary Scoring Tool

Pretty big news in the college basketball world.

Interesting that scoring margin is included in the NCAA's new metric. How much teams win or lose by has always been hotly contested as a method of figuring out a team's worth.

There's going to be a lot more teams trying to run it up this season.

Doesn't this mimic football, especially with teams that are making a case for the playoffs?

I wonder if this will cause Cal to keep the hammer down and not grind.

Isn't the scoring margin capped at 10 points

            Yep.

Dauster is talking about the actual metric there however. I feel like the committee itself is going to move toward a point where they factor in scoring margin when they have teams who are very even in the metric. I say that because they seem to sort of use it every year for certain teams.
