This is a bit of a peculiar situation thus far. Kerry Sr. seems to want certain info to be suppressed. Some are speculating that there was a meeting today only not with Cal....

I still firmly believe Blackshear will be a Cat. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

        A portion of Zagoria's update:

I think it is significant that Kerry Sr. talks about Cal and meeting with him but no one else specifically. Says he'll let Kerry Jr. decide who else he wants to meet with. I have been told that UK is the leader if he plays college basketball next year.

        Do your thing Cal.

He doesn't know Cal like that?

I tend to think the Blackshear family consistently denying there are meetings is a good sign for UK.

Certainly doesn't mean he's going to come to Kentucky, but usually when families play it this way there's a good reason for it.

This Blackshear "recruitment" is approaching soap opera status....

IF he is as good as people are saying, wouldn't the NBA be his next stop?

He's never really been on the NBA's radar. Only a 3-star coming out of high school. Had an ok freshman year then got hurt, had a pretty good 2017-18 season, but really came into his own this year. He's long, not crazy athletic, but can shoot it and has good basketball instincts.

Seems to be more of a basketball player than a phenom. One of those guys who you see on really good teams that just doesn't interest the NBA but can be crazy effective against college players.

From the times I've seen him it looks like the athleticism thing lilpro mentioned might be the deal breaker. Doesn't seem exceptionally quick or lithe. But he's a very skilled low-post player--and of course the NBA is going away from low-post, traditional big on big basketball.

This is getting a bit odd -

Definitely odd, not sure why they are wanting to hide the fact they had a meeting....if they actually did. He's still going to have his pick of whatever team he wants to go to if he doesn't enter the draft so not quite understanding the point of these games.

Does Kentucky have room on the frontline for EJ, Nick, Nate, and Kerry?

Kerry and EJ would be a formidable starting frontline. Sortve a bootleg Towns/Cauley-Stein.

In this situation, room is really not that important. A player like Blackshear's caliber you have to make a hard run at regardless of what other personnel you have.

Richards won't play if he doesn't improve a lot (assuming we can land Blackshear). Seems like Montgomery and Sestina could split minutes without much of a problem.

I can't read it as anything but positive for UK.

In the past when we've seen families do something like that the player often (not always) ends up at the school. Part of the reason they might do that is that they don't want to have other teams try to fashion their recruiting pitches as sort of anti-UK. If a program knows Kentucky's involved it's going to be all about prying the player away from Calipari. Same with Duke and Kansas and so on. They might not want to get into that mess.

With the recent discussion of rules and what is and is not posted I set out to find what our mission statement originally was and this is what I found:...

                                Kerry Blackshear Jr.
