  • Louisville loses to Bellarmine

Seems like it's going to be a long year for KP. Louisville was down by double digits at halftime and pulled back to make it a game only to lose by 1.

I am a little surprised they weren't able to pull in more players over the offseason.

Hope Bellarmine is eligible for tourney this year if they win conference again. Don’t recall how long they were supposed to have to wait.

As for KP…I wonder whether a mostly idiot fanbase will give him a couple years to rebuild or call for his head if this year is really bad. I like him. But I’ll NOT root for the birds for his sake. He has more money than I ever will. I won’t feel too sorry for him

Bellarmine plays all white players. That's insane.

They are the ultimate "system" team. They get in their stuff, run it, and usually run it well.

Still, you've gotta beat Bellarmine at home. Louisville is in for a looong year. Would be surprised if they win 10 or 11 games.

Louisville is going to be really bad this year, and I'm excited to watch it.

The UL loss didn't surprise me at all, how close the score was did. Scotty will always have his team ready to play every year. Bellarmine is not a big team, but they hustle the entire game and run their stuff. UL played tough defense the last 5 minutes and made it close. They are an all white team this year, but not always.

I watched that entire game last night. Bellarmine is fun to watch. UofL is not good. They have players but are not much of a team right now. Payne played several minutes early. Bellarmine plays a ton of big games this year. After last night they still have games against Clemson, Duke, UCLA and Kentucky. That is a tough schedule. Conf games are not so difficult.

The thing is it shouldn't take 2-3 years. He should've been able to recruit enough transfer portal guys to field a competitive team in year 1. If next year isn't substantially better it's going to be hard to see him getting much more time.

They were still recruiting against a potential actual punishment. What transfer wants to go somewhere with no chance of postseason play? Now? If Kenny can’t recruit a team something is seriously wrong. Recruiting was the sole reason Cal brought him to UK.

Right, I know this wasn't Cal/Kentucky 2009 but he should've been able to recruit enough players to beat Lenoir Rhyne and Bellarmine (who I know is a solid team). I think anyone looking around could see U of L wasn't getting punished heavily based on what other schools were getting.

Sure. But other schools who were not already on “probation” when caught again. I, for one, expected more than a slap on the wrist. And other coaches were using it against them

Only reason to suspect Louisville might receive further punishment is their existing probation, but the overwhelming evidence is that the NCAA was giving the schools who'd repented and made wholesale changes nothing more than a tsk tsk. I'm sure other schools were using it against KP but his not being able to recruit anyone better than Brandon Huntley Hatfield in the offseason is a huge failure.

Well it suits me fine if Hatfield is the best player he ever signs. On the bright side he’s got a kid named Fabio and a McCool. To bad it’s different kids. Fabio McCool would be better than McLovin himself.

They play UCLA also. They get a ton of experience and make a lot of money for their athletic program.
