  • Kentucky vs. Vanderbilt: Game Thread

So the Cats walk into the nightmare arena tonight in what is arguably the most important game of a season that has been chock full of 'em. This game is crucial because you've got a wounded Kansas sitting out there Saturday night, and if the Cats can take care of business tonight they position themselves to get a winnable big-time win at home this weekend.

The problem is: Vandy's not bad. They've been competitive in most games this season. The good news for Kentucky is that it looks like Liam Robbins, the kind of big man who has hurt Oscar in the past, is out with a sprained ankle.

This game is going to be brutal for Oscar. Stackhouse will try and muscle him from the opening tip, and it wouldn't surprise me if the game doesn't get ugly.

The game is at 9:00 tonight on ESPN.

Oscar needs to play smart and not be baited into doing something stupid.

Robbins leads them in points, rebounds and blocks. They’re also without 6’10” freshman Dort. Not saying it will be easy but we really should take advantage of the situation and come out on top.

The bad thing about games like this is that when you dig a hole like Kentucky has, these games do little for you in the big picture. Vandy's in the 80s in the NET; this is a game Kentucky cannot lose if it wants to continue its trajectory. It's one of those games that can only hurt, not really help.

Them's the breaks when you start the season like Kentucky did.

Polls, ratings, NET are confusing. Tennessee loses to us on their home court but falls very little in the polls. They are now ranked 4th. So if we are that bad why did Tennessee not fall very far after the loss? I know it is more complicated than it appears but some aspects of rankings make no sense.

I agree with Will. Stackhouse will make this game as physical as possible because that's the way he coaches. Personally, I hope Doug Shows is on our game because he will control it. Not likely.

I obviously don’t know what Cal knows but if CJ can’t guard his man, maybe start Reeves depending on matchups.

That is the quickest I’ve seen Wheeler commit a turnover

We give up an absurd amount of easy buckets.

With that said, I like Cal playing Wheeler with good offensive weapons, as opposed to Chris Livingston, Ugo and Lance Ware.
