  • Kansas vs. Kentucky: Game Thread

So here comes yet another Biggest Game of the Year (TM) for Kentucky. This one is especially huge, because it can both cement the fact that Kentucky has shaken off the early-season funkiness while also positioning them squarely off the bubble and in the NCAA Tournament. Win this one and we'll be talking about our seeding on Monday.

Kansas has lost four in a row, which may sound like a blessing but then you look at the four teams they lost to and realize they're all in the top 25. They also surely remember the pounding Kentucky put on them last year in the Phog, a game that was probably the pinnacle of last year's Kentucky team.

This Kansas team plays a strange, mostly five-out style as they try and spread everybody to the wings and drive you or shoot transition threes. Everybody thought they would be down this year but the emergence of Jalen Wilson has been big for them, as has the play of freshman Gradey Dick. Dick is a tremendous athlete and he plays super hard. He'll be a very tough match-up for Fredrick or Reeves because he's bigger and he really hits the glass. This is a game where you'd like to have Chris Livingston playing like he did against UCLA because he could be a key.

The game is at 8:00 on ESPN.

    They’ve lost 3 straight.

I think that starting these threads early has been pretty key in the Cats winning some games, so I appreciate your efforts.

UK will have to want to win this game more than Kansas does. We’ll see!

Seems like Vandy was a month ago. Kill’em Cats! The bigger the challenge—the bigger the opportunity. Jayhawks are eager but vulnerable. Make Rupp great again!

Just checked—Vegas says Cats by 3

        Got ahead of myself.

If you look at their schedule the last 5 games they've played could've gone either way.

I don't put *a ton* of stock in that because the Big 12 is super tough. However the pounding they took to TCU at home shows you that they're vulnerable.

I'm just glad this is a game we can look forward to and not dread.

Yep, definitely agree on this point.

But maybe it’s better if I disagree? Superstition favors pessimism in sports, I think, so scratch that…I dread tonight like a Monday where I return to work. It’s going to be terrible, back off of the bubble, 1-6 against quad 1, burn the brown suit, FARR Cal!

Big game today and i am excited. Expect a hungry Kansas team but hope that our team has been working hard and blocking out all the noise. I saw a quote from Cason where he said the mindset is just to win everyday on and off the court via practice or whatever, i love the attitude.

On a side note, i still think we have all the pieces to win it all this year, i truly believe that...

As already stated, this is a Huge game for Kentucky in several ways. Livingston and Toppin are key on both ends. I look for Wallace to have a big game because he is a big game player. Oscar will be Oscar, Reeves and CJ must shoot well. Put it together Cats. GO CATS!!!

Spread down to 2. Bettors are liking KU with the points

Only partially on topic but rather than start a separate thread I’ll just say this SEC/Big 12 challenge is not going to script early on. One thing for Auburn to lose to WVU but if this Bama whoopin by OU holds up then our conference may get humbled.

What in the world, Bama? This is crazy.

Looks like we might have to save the SEC tonight. Just like the old days. *insert flexing bicep emoji*
