The only draw for him might be the tailgaiting scene.
I've assumed it would be Georgetown for Pitino.
I would think the fit would be like oil and water, plus he has some other good coaches to recruit against so it's not like he would be able to cash in on the southern recruits.
Georgetown...oh yeah, definitely could see him there and be glad he's not 5 years younger. He might be immortal, though, we just don't know.
Hey, I have to stand up for Oxford. 😊 It’s a great place. It really is.
It is. I went there on a college trip my senior year. Loved it. Actually stayed a couple of nights on Ole Miss's campus.
But I think Matt's point was more that it doesn't seem like a place that would draw Rick Pitino. Nor a program that would draw him. He's likely gonna finish up with a basketball power, or at least one that used to be a power. Ole Miss would be a strange move.
^ Right. Pitino would seem out of place there, even more so than at UK where we saw him open a restaurant and saw his wife spend time in the NE. I know he's been in Kentucky for a great portion of his life but he's a New England guy.
As Will mentions, the more important aspect is that he's going to require a program that could go to a FF. That's going to be priority one IMO.
Kentucky was deep Democrat at the time. Things have radically changed.
Pitino has radically changed. Can't remember him talking politics a whole lot back in the day. In several interviews I've seen from the past three or four years he's quick to bring it up. IIRC he went on a pretty brutal takedown of Trump a couple years ago.
Two days after Rick Pitino openly said he would go to the highest bidder.
I didn't see that. What I read was that, if he left Iona, money wouldn't be a consideration. He said he wants to go to a school that he believes has FF potential. Georgetown seems like a likely destination to me.
