Kentucky vs. Arkansas: Game Thread

We come to the end of the regular season. And in true 2022-23 fashion, Kentucky finds itself at a game it really needs to win. The loss against Vanderbilt rearranged things (again), and now UK is up against the same wall it's been up against pretty much from the time Oscar Tshiebwe blew that defensive assignment on the out-of-bounds play against Michigan St.

Arkansas comes in reeling just a little, having lost to Tennessee badly this past week. They haven't played great since lottery pick Nick Smith rejoined the team after an injury, and in fact have lost 4 of 6 after their win against Kentucky in Rupp. However they present bad match-up problems for Kentucky with their athleticism, and Smith will only exacerbate that more. This will be a tough game, and obviously if Cason Wallace is out (which I suspect he will be) then Kentucky will need a near-perfect performance to win.

The game is at 2:00 on CBS.

As Wallace looks to probably be out, it's worth noting that in 5 of the past 6 seasons we've come to the end talking about a Kentucky player's bum foot or leg.

Vanderbilt. Washington, Terrence Williams, TyTy, now Wallace.

Also, the Cats need Missouri to lose (highly doubtful as they play Ole Miss at home) and Tennessee to lose (at Auburn).

Missouri plays at 3:30 and Tennessee plays at 2:00.

I think it's very likely that Kentucky loses today, Tennessee also loses, Missouri wins, and Kentucky ends up as the 4 seed playing around 3:30 on Friday afternoon. If the other two teams win and Kentucky loses we'd play at 3:30 on Thursday afternoon.

Get Wallace healthy is top priority. If he has to miss the game today to accomplish this so be it.

I can live with the 3:30 game on Thursday if Wallace gets well for Nashville. Yes. I am being selfish

Of course We'll have no word on Wallace until game time. And that's understandable. Cats have an uphill battle in this one, and if Reeves runs the point, it makes it difficult for him to shoot well. Therio will be important today. GO CATS!!!

Reeves is gonna have to have one of those games for us to win. We can’t shoot 20% from three in this game and have a chance.
