How long does the type of tourney performances we have witnessed the last few years go on before what I believe is our greatest strength as a fan base, tournament attendance starts to suffer. I had tickets to tonight's and tomorrow's games. I gave tonight's tickets to my oldest son. I just called him and told him to try and sell mine for tomorrow as I have no desire to go see a semifinal with no UK. Cal has destroyed many UK traditions. Such as going to holiday tournaments playing Indiana every year, our all time win record. I could go on but you get my idea. If he manages to kill our fans desire to travel and see the team play , I'm not sure we will ever get that back.

The attendance was as high as it has ever been, which goes to show that the "message board consensus" doesn't always jibe with Joe Schmo fan.
Kentucky fans will always go. Lots of people make a family/friend vacation out of it and do things other than just go to the games. The biggest problem with the SEC Tourney now is that the average fan is basically priced out of attending sessions... that arena isn't very big, and unless you get lucky a few minutes after tip you're going to pay huge prices for tickets to UK sessions. My family went every year for about 15 years, but had to stop because we just couldn't afford the ticket prices in Nashville.
The tournament was much better in Atlanta.

I was there until driving home this morning. We only went to our game Friday night. The town was all blue like always. I booked at the hotel for next year before we left. Although I'm going to check in a couple months about staying at the Omni next year.
We only bought Friday nioght tickets this year. People were trying to sell lower level tickets yesterday for $50. They weren't finding takers. A guy leaving yesterday offered me free lower level tickets. I passed on those. I think he finally gave them to the valet and told him to sell them, throw them away or give them away.
It sucks to lose but the SEC is a UK homecoming. We love going. I started going when they brought it back in 1979. I stopped going after Tubby's third season and didn't start going back until Cal's first season. So that's 44 years. '20 was cancelled so that's 43. Minus 10 years I guess this was my 33rd SEC tourney if my math is right.
I doubt I'll miss another as long as I'm able to go. It just seems to be a special group of UK fans at the SEC. These aren't your Rupp attendees for the most part. These are the real bluebloods that save up all year and take their vacation to see the Cats and be part of the whole UK experience. We go with a group of 10 to 12 and we run into groups that we see only once a year at the SEC.
It's a wonderful experience win or lose but it's far better when we win.
