^^^ Certainly a lot of factors are in play. Tough to put a finger on the formula when champions are built differently each year. Last 5 champions are UConn, KU, Baylor, UVA and Nova. So that’s Hurley, Self, Drew, Bennett and Wright. Those teams were not all built the same or play the same style.

But, I’d say a common thread would be their commitment to their programs and employers. Not individual player agendas. And anyone who thinks that that old school loyalty approach means that those coaches don’t care about their players and their futures are wrong.

Players first program was simply a way of getting the best players to want to be here. Pushing them out the door for the next group is where it went haywire. Real players first would include helping the non one and dones become eventual pros through development and progress. Or at least maximize their abilities before being pros at something else.

U Conn has ONE senior in starting five. Will be interesting to see if the others all return.

Championship game predictions? I'm going out on a limb to say:

    San Diego St. 75
    UConn 69

Hoping San Diego gets the W tonight. If not 5 titles in 23 for UCONN under 3 coaches, they are doing something right for sure....

We went to the S16 in Indy a few years ago when UK beat UofL and UT lost to UM. Nosebleeds, huge sections curtained off, tons of empty sections — it was a horrible venue.

I was pulling for FAU, but oh well. Higgins with another atrocious performance.

That first game was a great watch. Both teams fighting, not playing their best but fighting the whole game. Congrats SDSU.
