So weird.

Nowell is 23 years old now. Looks about 13 there. So that would've been roughly in the Anthony Davis timeframe, back when you could wear a UK shirt out in NYC and not be openly mocked.

Back around 2006 or 2007 I was visiting my sister in NYC, and walking around Manhattan one day I of course had a UK shirt on. Had someone yell, "Kentucky Sucks, Go Cards!" at me. I turned to look at them and they were laughing, all in good fun, and they asked if I wanted to sit in on whatever show they were recording.

That has nothing to do with Markquis Nowell.

Tyler Thompson points out something I heard last weekend but forgot: this would've been when Nowell played for Rod Rhodes' Cordia team.

I watched Cordia play my alma mater in eastern Kentucky in an exhibition around this time. It was wild because Cordia had an all-black team, several African-born players, and all the parents who had driven over were white. It wasn't long after that that the hammer fell on them.

He was ranked 223rd coming out of high school, received offers from a number of schools including Rutgers, SLU, Georgetown, Western Kentucky and others but surprisingly committed to Arkansas-Little Rock before transferring to K State in April of 2021.

As I honestly don't like the kid because he's so cocky I give him the respect he is due as a player. With that said, let's go Florida Atlantic!!!!!

I love the cockiness, and will be glad when our team has some of that again. I wasn't always this way, but I'm tired of seeing our guys back down/whine/get pushed around. I want to see Wagner chasing guys off the court.

Oh, wow, I didn't know he played there. So he's kinda 606 too.

Same. Last dude we had like that was probably Herro. He had a real villain streak that you know we’d all have hated had he played elsewhere, but he gave that team a real edge. It’s an essential quality.
