  • Cotton Nash passes away today at age 80

Cotton Nash held UK's career scoring record until Dan Issel along. Still ninth on the career scoring list. Played in 61-62, 62-63 and 63-64 seasons. Was something of a "matinee idol" back in that day. Great athlete, played in NBA, ABA, and MLB. LHL reports he had been ill since around Thanksgiving last year. RIP to a Wildcat legend.

I was surprised to learn that he appeared in 13 MLB games.

Issel eclipsed him a few years later, but prior to that he might have been considered UK’s best. I’ve read that he liked baseball best.

I thought he was older. He was my Mom’s fav. I was born a UK fan, but my Mom cheering and talking about Cotton Nash, really turned the corner for me as a fan.

I remember listening to the Cats play on the radio. He was not a big, but the other bigs couldn't stop him. A great athlete! Prayers for his family.
